Nicole-Reine Lepaute (1723-1788), better known as “Hortense Lepaute”, was a French astronomer and mathematician. She participated in the prediction of the return of Halley's Comet💫, in 1762 she calculated the exact time of a solar eclipse that would occur in France (in 2 more years) and mapped its trajectory across Europe, published astronomical treatises on "the orbit of Venus" and was a member of the French Academy of Science. One of the best “astronomical computers” of her time, and one of the many invisible women in science.
